In the worlds before impro, primal order reigned…but elemental forces caused an egg to hatch, and…something about a phoenix… The point is, the nature of impro is…irrepressible!

Which is just another way of saying we have no way of knowing what will happen when we get up on that stage, but no doubt we will receive more sage wisdom on par with what we learned last time, wisdom that could have come from the mouth of Buddha himself… Did you know you can increase your street cred by playing parcheesi? Or that you shouldn’t travel to the seventh century if you don’t like being…well, let’s just say no-one should travel to the seventh century.

Only the chaos of improvisation could provide such nuggets of wisdom, and for our second show at the Bella Union, our pilgrims on the path to enlightenment are Evan Jones, Dan Walmsley, Matt Elsbury, Adam McKenzie, Benne Harrison and musician Karin Muiznieks, and their journey to the west will be guided by host Ben McKenzie.

Impro Sundae returns from a short break to rock out in style at our new venue, the Bella Union bar at Trades Hall! We’re going to blast your ears and faces with the best improvised comedy The Crew has to offer - including the return of our popular musical format, Instant Musical Odyssey!

Ben McKenzie hosts, while Rob Lloyd, Vanessa Bennett, Nigel Walton, Andy McClelland and Benne Harrison play - and of course Dan Walmsley will be on hand to play music and take control for the Odyssey!

Tickets $15/$10 at the door.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our last gig at Bar Open; we really rocked the place! But don’t be afraid, for this isn’t the end of Impro Sundae. As announced on Sunday, The Crew’s regular Sunday show is moving to a new home at the Bella Union Bar at Trades Hall! Melbourne’s hottest new venue, the Bella Union is the centrepiece of Comedy @ Trades and is also host to the monthly sketch comedy show The Anarchist Guild Social Committee.

Impro Sundae starts up at the Bella Union on July 13; expect a full line-up and further details in the coming week.

Huntingtower School in Mount Waverley are hosting a huge charity event to support the Simunye Project, an initiative to aid schools in need in South Africa.

Hosted by the supremely talented Damian Callinan (The Wedge, Skithouse), this live, charity version of a certain television programme featuring contestants going through a blue door is sure to be a massively entertaining night out.

The contestants include a host of comedians and media personalities Phil Andrews, Catherine Deveny, Marty Fields, Geraldine Hickey, Nelly Thomas and Crew members Rob Lloyd, Adam McKenzie, Ben McKenzie and Dan Walmsley. If you’ve ever wondered how the Crew would do on Thank God You’re Here, now’s your chance to find out!

This coming Sunday Impro Sundae bids farewell to Bar Open, it’s fortnightly home of the last six months, as it seeks new pastures. But that’s no reason not to rock the venue’s socks off one last time!

But with whom shall you be raising the roof, you ask, in grammatically correct form? We shall answer!

Newly appointed Artistic Director Ben McKenzie will direct the sock-rocking antics of Rob Lloyd, Nigel Walton, Dan Walsmley and Evan Jones, with Karin Muiznieks providing the musical portion of the rock.

Let’s get rockin’!
